Leeds Rhinos are proud to have passionate and loyal fans who support the club by proudly wearing the Rhinos’ badge. Unfortunately, this loyalty is sometimes exploited by people and companies who use the club’s name and image to promote their own products. We do not condone this the club put a lot of work into protecting the Rhinos’ brand to ensure that fans have their loyalty rewarded both off and on the pitch.

What is brand protection?

The club has registered a range of intellectual property rights, including the club badge and name, in order to retain control of the quality of merchandise and services that the club is associated with. When people or companies sell Leeds Rhinos branded goods without the club’s authorisation, they are using the club’s intellectual property.

Brand protection is the work that the club does to stop unauthorised people or companies using their intellectual property, especially when the external company’s goal is to profit from the Rhinos’ reputation without contributing to the club’s success.

Why protect the brand?

Unofficial products are often poor quality and have been manufactured in circumstances where the club has no control. Fans that purchase these items may be disappointed with the quality of these items, but there may also be safety concerns associated with these products.

The money made through the sale of official merchandise is reinvested back into the club and makes the club better for all, from the fans who enjoy the match day experience to the community charities that the club is proud to support.

For these reasons, Leeds Rhinos ask that fans only purchase official club merchandise.
