Debut: Vs Warrington Wolves (A) 16/02/2023
Honours:
Leeds Rhinos added Samoan international Sam Lisone from NRL club Gold Coast Titans on a two-year contract for the 2023 Betfred Super League season and he was an instant hit among the Rhinos fanbase.
Debuting in round one against Warrington, the prop had a memorable first campaign at Headingley as he played 24 times. One of the highlights of the year was his hat trick in a 28-12 win over Hull FC, which was nominated for Try of the Season and Magic Moment at the club's awards dinner. Alongside an extra year as part of his existing deal, Lisone also committed to a further year at Headingley which keeps him as a Rhino until 2025.
In the NRL, Lisone made his bow with the New Zealand Warriors in 2015 and made 85 appearances over his four years at the club (most of which were from the bench). During his time in the junior set up at the Warriors, he was coached by Rhinos Head Coach Rohan Smith. Moving to Gold Coast Titans in 2020, he was a utility off the bench again as he made 43 of 48 appearances as a substitute.
Internationally, he has four caps for Samoa, including appearances at the 2017 World Cup.
Sam's partner is also Kiwi Fern and former Rhino Georgia Hale.
