A holder of four Grand Final rings, the Dewsbury Moor Matt Diskin made his debut in 2001 and would become a mainstay of the golden generation of players.

His try against Bradford in the 2004 Grand Final and his Harry Sunderland winning performance realised a dream for two generations of Leeds fans on a never-to-be-forgotten night at Old Trafford. He was also on the scoreboard in 2009, helping to turn the tide against St Helens.

Tough and near-indestructible – as he illustrated when making an incredible 60 tackles against Melbourne in the 2008 World Club Challenge – he played in every pack role at some stage. His consistency and success were even more remarkable in that Leeds predominantly operated throughout that golden period with him as their only specialist hooker in an era where all their challengers had two.

Even when the Rhinos signed Danny Buderus in 2009, a broken leg for the former Australian skipper forced him out of the business end of the season and Diskin again rose to the challenge to lift the title. Desperately unlucky to be injured on his sole GB appearance to date against New Zealand in 2004, he made three appearances for England two years later.

He went on to make 264 appearances for the club, receiving a well deserved testimonial before moving to Bradford Bulls.
