Rhinos Reserves in action at AMT Headingley this Saturday

Leeds Rhinos Reserves look to back up their recent win as they take on Warrington Wolves Reserves at AMT Headingley on Saturday afternoon, KO 5pm.

After losing out to Leigh Leopards in their first game of the year, Tony Smith's side bounced back in style as they took down Derek Hardman's St Helens side in a gritty 30-22 result to move up to seventh in the league standings. They are one of six teams currently level on two points, along with this weekend's opponents Warrington, Huddersfield, Saints and both Hull FC and Hull KR.

After a successful campaign last season, head coach Smith has chosen to develop from within the Rhinos ranks again in 2024. Jack Sinfield leads the team out of the traps early, as he did in last season's Reserves competition, scoring three tries and kicking seven goals so far in 2024. Centre Ned McCormack and forward Ben Littlewood have also had bright starts with two tries each, and have been rewarded for their efforts with a place in the wider 21-man squad for Rohan Smith's first team.

Like Leeds, Warrington also have one win and one loss this season too. Battling back from a 30-4 defeat to Hull KR, an eight-try outing against Wakefield a fortnight ago puts the Wolves below Leeds on points difference heading into round three of the season.

Ryan O’Brien has had the likes of Max Wood, Arron Lindop and Tom Whitehead in his ranks as they got extra minutes alongside their involvements under Sam Burgess in the first team too. Adam Holroyd has proved to be a success story already in 2024 as he has two tries and six appearances for the Wolves in Super League, as well as homegrown half back Leon Hayes. Forwards Luke Thomas and Nolan Tupaea are also waiting in the wings.
