A home quarter-final tie is on the line for Leeds Rhinos Women this Sunday as Lois Forsell's side take on Huddersfield Giants at West Park RUFC, kick off 12pm.

The Rhinos and Giants come into this weekend's fixture level on four points each; Leeds are only ahead on points difference after both sides secured wins over Hull KR and Leigh Leopards. With this week's game being the final round-robin group game before the knock out stage, the winner of Sunday's match will get a home tie for the final eight as the race to Wembley.

It has been a spotless run so far for the Rhinos, who have scored 142 points and only conceded four at the hands of Leigh in their opening game. All five off-season signings made their debuts against the Leopards and have slotted into the Leeds side; Shona Hoyle scoring tries in both of her appearances, plus Grace Field and Olivia Whitehead have also opened their accounts for 2024. Last time out, Forsell's side posted one of the their biggest scorelines in all competitions as they beat Hull KR 90-0; Ruby Enright leading the way with three tries and 12 goals.

The Giants have also been running hot in their games against the Robins and Leopards. With former Rhinos player Sam Hulme, Ellie Oldroyd, Frankie Townend and Paige Webster in their ranks, Townend and Oldroyd were both try scorers in a 74-0 win against Hull KR, before Amelia Brown led the try scoring with five in a 36-6 result against Leigh.

Sunday's fixture will be the third consecutive season in which Leeds and Huddersfield have met in the Challenge Cup, with the Rhinos winning both games so far. Two tries from Georgia Roche helped Leeds open their 2022 account with a 38-8 result at the John Smith's Stadium in the first-ever fixture between the two clubs, before 11 tries in a 52-0 win last year help Forsell's side on the road to eventually walk out at Wembley.

In all competitions, the Rhinos have only lost once to Huddersfield in six meetings, the Giants' sole win coming in a 20-16 result during last year's Super League season.

Last time out

The Rhinos took on Huddersfield in the final group game of the 2023 Cup campaign as Lois Forsell's side scored 11 tries in a 52-0 win.

Tara Moxon's three tries led the scoring, along with two tries each for Hanna Butcher and Bethan Dainton. Amy Hardcastle, Jasmine Cudjoe, Tasha Gaines and Izzy Northrop also crossed the try line as the Rhinos booked their quarter final spot.

Fixtures

Although the eight teams going through to the quarter-finals of this year's Cup competition have been confirmed, this week's matches will decide which teams get home advantage.

York Valkyrie and Featherstone Rovers are tied on two points at the top of group one with a win each and the pair face off on Saturday. Sunday sees the leading teams in groups two, three and four go head to head too as Wigan Warriors and Cardiff meet at Robin Park, Warrington Wolves take on reigning champions St Helens at Victoria Park, and the Rhinos face off against the Giants.

Leeds Rhinos Women bring their Betfred Women's Challenge Cup group games to an end on Sunday afternoon as Lois Forsell's side battle it out with Huddersfield Giants Women at West Park RUFC, kick off 12pm.

Both the Rhinos and Giants come into the fixture with a perfect record of two wins from two games against Leigh and Hull KR, meaning that the winner of Sunday's fixture will finish top of group four and are guaranteed a home game for the quarter finals.
